Traumatic rupture of the Achilles tendon with large tendon and skin defect
Main Article Content
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The sural fasciocutaneous flap
(RSFF) described by Masquelet et al., it is useful
for reconstruction of injuries around the heel
and ankle. Skin defects around the heel
are common, but are infrequently associated with
total rupture of the Achilles tendon. They have
published various types of grafts for the
Achilles tendon reconstruction, Myerson
describes the use of a tendon allograft
Achilles with a block of calcaneal bone for the
treatment of degenerative tendinopathy of
Achilles but there are no reports of its use in cases
treble.
OBJECTIVE: Demonstrate the feasibility of combining
Reverse sural flap with cadaveric allograft
Achilles tendon in acute injuries and describe its
final functional result.
CASE PRESENTATION: This is a
clinical case report and literature review. A
young adult patient with loss of coverage
skin and also complete rupture of the tendon of
Achilles at its calcaneal insertion. for your resolution
surgical cadaveric tendon graft was used
of Achilles and skin coverage with technique of
reverse flow sural flap described by Masquelet.
For the functional assessment, the scale of
AOFASS.
DISCUSSION: The sural reverse flow flap
It is very versatile, ideal for the reconstruction of
ankle. Few studies have combined sural flap
reverse and Achilles tendon plasty in the same
surgical time, but have shown
satisfactory results. The association of this
technique, with tendinoplasty using allograft
cadaveric is unusual but very useful, in
our case proved to be effective, reduced time
surgical procedures and reproduced functional results
excellent without any complications.
