Abstract
The evolution of medicine from the time of Hippocrates to the present. It highlights how in the past, doctors relied on observing symptoms and signs to diagnose disease. With the advancement of technology, such as the microscope, biochemical tests, computers, and X-rays, imaging and the laboratory have become essential in modern medicine. However, the author emphasizes the importance of not losing the ability to perform a detailed physical examination and maintain a strong clinical suspicion. He mentions the influence of genetics in the diagnosis and prevention of disease, and how the future doctor must balance magic and the science of healing, while maintaining the importance of the physical examination and medical tradition.
