Functional and radiological results of femur varus osteotomy for the management of genu valgus in mature skeleton Report of 3 cases.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Genu valgus is defined as a deficiency in the femorotibial anatomical axis beyond 6-8° of physiological valgus, and is characterized by a displacement of the mechanical axis towards the lateral compartment. Varising osteotomies are an alternative in patients with symptomatic genu valgus, in which after performing the osteotomy, the load axis is transferred to the healthy medial compartment, reducing symptoms and delaying or preventing the need for arthroplasty. The objective of the study is to demonstrate the functional results by applying the Knee Society Score (KSS) and radiological results, obtained in the correction of genu valgus, through varicose osteotomy of the distal femur in patients with a mature skeleton. This series of cases is presented at the Medical Conferences of the Alcívar Hospital.
