PRADER-WILLI SYNDROME WITH FEMORAL TOMBROSIS. ABOUT A CASE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Thrombosis can appear in the Syndrome of
Prader - Willi (SPW) as a rare event that can occur as a complication of a hypercoagulable state due to diabetes mellitus. This state contributes to alterations in the hemostasis mechanism and in the fibrinolytic system, causing thrombotic manifestations due to hyperglycemic states that produce protein glycosylation processes, which affects the structure of the clot, causing greater resistance to degradation by plasmin and an increase in type 1 plasminogen activator.
There are few reports of thrombotic complications in this syndrome. We report the case of a patient with Prader Willi syndrome and diabetes mellitus who presented thrombosis in the right lower limb, subjected to fibrinolysis and mechanical thrombectomy without success, until reaching an extreme approach such as suprapatellar amputation. This case is brought under review due to its rare presentation and because it is a fatal complication in patients with Prader-Willi Syndrome.
