Abstract

One of the complications of Trauma
Cranioencephalic (TCE) little investigated is the entity called: Sympathetic Hyperactivity
Paroxysmal (HSP) or Diencephalic Crisis (CD), clinical diagnosis and exclusion, being very difficult to recognize due to its similarity with septic symptoms. It presents with episodes of tachycardia, tachypnea, diaphoresis, arterial hypertension, fever, pupillary dilation, which can appear early or late after an acute brain injury. Most of the works record episodes of Diencephalic Crisis after 10 to 15 days of hospitalization in Intensive Care or Intermediate Care areas;
They can also register after 72 hours of hospitalization. The crises can even last for months or years, but their presentation will be less intense, frequent and lasting. The case of a patient with severe TBI due to a traffic accident that occurred with CD is reported. This case is being reviewed due to its common presentation and because it is a complication with serious sequelae in patients with TBI.
