TRAUMATIC TENDON RUPTER OF ACHILLES WITH GREAT DEFECT TENDINOUS AND CUTANEOUS
Main Article Content
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: The inverse sural fasciocutaneous flap (RSFF) described by Masquelet et al. It is useful for the reconstruction of injuries around the heel and ankle. Skin defects around the heels are common but rarely associated with total Achilles tendon rupture. Various types of grafts have been published for Achilles tendon reconstruction; Myerson describes the use of an Achilles tendon
calcaneus bone block allograft for treating degenerative Achilles tendinopathy, but there are no reports of its use in acute cases.
OBJECTIVE: Demonstrate the feasibility of combining the reverse sural flap with cadaveric Achilles tendon allograft in acute injuries and describe its final functional result.
CASE PRESENTATION: This is a clinical case report and literature review. For a young adult patient with loss of skin cover and complete rupture of the Achilles tendon at its calcaneal insertion for his surgical resolution, an Achilles tendon graft from a cadaver
was used, and skin coverage with reverse flow sural flap technique described by Masquelet. For functional evaluation, the AOFASS scale was used.
DISCUSSION: The sural reverse flow flap is Versatile and ideal for ankle reconstruction. few studies have combined the reverse sural flap and the Achilles tendon plastic at the same time surgical, but have shown satisfactory results (7, 9, 10). The association of this technique with tendinoplasty using cadaver The allograft is unusual but very useful in our case. It has proven efficacy, reducing surgical times and producing excellent functional results without complications.
