Abstract
Eisenmenger Syndrome represents the most advanced stage of pulmonary arterial hypertension associated with congenital heart disease in adults, where the shunt becomes bidirectional or reverses from right to left. Congenital heart diseases in adults are growing exponentially at a rate of 5% annually. Ventricular septal defect (VSD) is the second most prevalent, with an incidence of 1.5 to 3.5 per 1000 live births. The prevalence of pulmonary artery hypertension is 30% in patients with large, uncorrected shunt-type defect, and of these more than 50% progress with Eisenmenger syndrome. The purpose of presenting this case is to highlight one of the most common phenotypes as a complication of congenital heart disease and to determine in the patient whether VSD closure is viable or not.
