IT WILL BE A NEW BEGINNING

Abstract

A few days ago I was asked to write the editorial for the magazine Actas Médicas, on the anniversary of its 30 years of publication. So I thought, now what do I do? What trouble have they gotten me into? The writing should come as smoothly as the thoughts; but, knowing now that between 45 and 60 thousand are produced per day, the difficult thing is to string those thoughts together and create a coherent idea, so I decided to start by trying to capture on paper everything that this magazine has meant and means to the whole Alcívar Hospital family.
Saying 30 years means a long journey, they are the pearl wedding, the pearl symbolizes the hidden and precious beauty that the oyster keeps inside. What better interpretation for the magazine Actas Médicas, every time its editions come out you can discover innovations in the medical field, cases of interest, statistics of different pathologies, but most importantly, it has saved the effort of each of the researchers who created the articles.
In 1991, a group of doctors, friends among them, with an affinity for the interest in the scientific method, decided to publish volume 1, number 1 of the journal Actas Médicas, it would be the first publication of the Clínica Alcívar, with Dr. Francisco Parodi as editor, and whose editorial committee was made up of Drs. Eduardo Alcívar Andretta, Luis Baquerizo Amador, César Sánchez Balda, Gustavo Plaza Cepeda, Roberto Santos Ditto, Ignacio Hanna Musse and Iván Verduga Vélez. I believe that all of them, like Antoine De Saint-Exupéry's phrase: "Make your life a dream and your dream a reality", dreamed of a promising future for the Alcívar Hospital through this magazine and it is a tangible reality, so palpable that we now find ourselves thirty years later bringing to light the edition number
31 volume 1.
After these 30 years, what will be the path? I think the answer writes itself, and it is the commitment to maintain this dream, to do it better and better, although it is often not easy, surely Dr. José Ignacio Hanna thinks, who has been editor of Actas Médicas for the last few years. But we are sure of what we are as an Institution that supports the publication, because this Magazine is the flag of what is achieved at the Alcívar Hospital.
In the end I was able to write the editorial, and in the meantime I remembered the first time I spoke with Doctor Parodi, Panchito for his friends, while still a medical student, and the times that Dr. Alcívar sat in the front row from the auditorium to listen to the dissertation of the work of the Medical Conference, the source of many of the articles in the Magazine. And I was convinced that we still have a lot to show the world about what is done at home, so I invite you to publish, write, collect data and show what we are and what we are worth as Hospital Alcívar.
