Plagiarism Control
The Actas Médicas Journal, through agreements with Local Universities, uses URKUND, a plagiarism-detection service that verifies the originality of content submitted before publication. The URKUND software compares the document presented to the journal with content from web pages, libraries, books, and databases. Each manuscript sent to the Editor will be verified in the shortest possible time. In this process, URKUND provides a similarity report that highlights, on the one hand, the percentage of similarity based on the number of words and, on the other, the marking of the various sections, expressions, or terms used in different documents. The editorial team of the Actas Médicas (Ecuador) reviews the similarity report and, if necessary, sends it to the Editor or Section Editor responsible for managing the article. The decision as to whether a manuscript should be rejected due to fraud or proceed to the peer review process rests with the Section Editor. The similarity report can also be made available to the arbitrators.
