Update on the treatment of anterior cruciate ligament rupture in an adolescent patient A case report.
Main Article Content
Abstract
The incidence of an anterior cruciate ligament injury in skeletally immature patients has increased significantly in recent years, mainly due to the increase in sporting demands at increasingly younger ages due to the greater incorporation of women into competitive sports and the increase in childhood obesity. The presence of hemarthrosis becomes less specific for anterior cruciate ligament injury compared to the adult population, and magnetic resonance imaging is essential due to its ability to assess the maturational state of the physis. This report aimed to identify injuries in patients through imaging studies and identify the appropriate technique according to skeletal maturity in young patients. A clinical case of the topic is presented at the Alcívar Hospital Medical Conferences.
