Abstract

Under normal conditions, the occipital lobes receive irrigation from the vertebrobasilar arteries and the internal carotid system. In different morphological variations, the situation changes. In posterior communicating artery aplasia (P1), the blood supply to the occipital pole comes from a single source; In this case, it comes from the internal carotid. In such cases, collateral circulation is missing. The Clinical evidence for endovascular treatment, such as thrombectomy for distal occlusion of medium posterior circulation vessels, is still scarce. However, isolated posterior cerebral artery occlusions have been observed, accounting for approximately 5% to 10% of all ischemic strokes. A case is presented at the annual Congress of the Alcívar Hospital.
